Information was gathered from the internet and by a formal survey of residents and staff of the Methodist/IU Emergency Medicine Residency. Any text in quotations is taken directly from the survey. The Ameritech Yellow pages also have a very complete guide, which includes maps to local venues.
Homeowners may be interested in Angies List, a consumer generated guide to service businesses. Angie rates plumbers, remodeling contractors, pet sitters, etc. based on comments from consumers. Membership is $35 annually. Check out Angies web site www.angieslist.com.

Eiteljorg Museum- 500 W. Washington St, 636-9378. Monday thru Saturday 10-5, Sunday 12-5. (Closed Mondays after Labor Day). Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children, free for <4. Memberships available. Exhibits change frequently. "Very unique." Also made list of good places to take out of town guests.
Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA)-1200 W. 38th St. For exhibition and program info call 920-2660. Closed Mondays. Admission to permanent exhibits free. The grounds at IMA are noted to be beautiful. James Whitcomb Riley Home-528 Lockerbie Rd., 631-5885. Tours of the poets house. Noted to be a good place to take visiting guests. "Coolest old place in the city."

Road Trips
Day-Trips:
Nashville, IN and Brown County State Park: Nashville is the home of lots of antique stores and jewelry shops and the Little Nashville Opry. The drive is nice and there are lots of flea markets on the way. You can spend the day in the park and then on to shopping. Voted best day-trip.
Cincinnati, OH: At about an hour and a half away, it makes a very nice day-trip. "Great zoo and Great museums."
Shades or Turkey Run State Parks: Spend the day hiking, canoeing or picnicking.
Weekend Getaways:
Chicago, Ill: Voted the best road trip. The Navy Pier, the Science Museum, and Aquarium were all listed as places to see. "Better restaurants than Indy."

The Fashion Mall- Keystone and 86th St. Easy access and free parking. Good variety of stores with basics and specialty shops.
Circle Center Mall- Downtown. Home of the only Nordstrom in Indy, a 12-screen theatre, Sega City and Lots of restaurants. Cheap parking.
Castleton Square Mall- East of 82nd St and Allisonville Rd. Intersection. Noted to have good variety of shops. Avoid weekends Nov. thru Dec. Traffic is so bad some call it "Hastleton."
Glendale Mall- Corner of Keystone and 62nd St. Under renovation, lots of new stores and 12-screen theatre coming soon.
